The Long Version?
We are an all-inclusive ceramics studio (no studio fee required) where each piece has a small graphite mark on them that represents its price. The price includes access to our full paint bar, design center, and firing in our on-site kiln.
Works are left with us to be clear glazed, fired, and finished and can be picked up in 7 days. As a walk-in studio, no reservation is needed, but we happily can reserve party space (with a paid room fee) for groups of 8 to 20!
Monday through Saturday: 12 noon to 8 p.m.
Sunday: 1 to 6 p.m.
*Note: Occasional workshops and special events may be scheduled to happen before or after hours.
The Pottery Place was originally founded by Teresa Johnson back in 2007, starting with a single studio at The Avenue in Murfreesboro, TN. Over time, she expanded into a small empire of creativity with multiple locations—including our Chattanooga studio, which opened its doors in November of 2013.
Today, this location is the last standing “The Pottery Place,” and we’re proud to carry that torch.
I came into the picture in late 2014. At the time, I had zero art experience—none. But I was hired to help open, manage, and grow a few of Teresa’s studios, including this one here in Chattanooga and two canvas painting spots in Murfreesboro and Nashville. Teresa taught me everything—how to run a creative business with heart, how to build systems that actually work, and how to lead a team that shows up with joy.
I bought the studio on March 1, 2020, right before the world turned upside down. Since then, we've grown from a little neighborhood art studio into a thriving creative space where thousands of people come each year to celebrate, reset, and reconnect.
Our mission? To build community through creativity. We’re not just here to sell pottery—we’re here to make people feel something. To create joy. To offer a space where you can slow down, laugh a little louder, and make something meaningful—whether it’s a plate, a memory, or a new tradition.
This is a space for connection.
This is a space for community.
