Green placemats and one paint palette at every seat
Water bowls + sponges and brush buckets shared every 2 guests
Clean counter/shelving for the group to use for snacks, gifts, or drinks
Have your brush demo set in your apron pocket just in case a new painter joins!
Set out custom party plate or bachelorette wineglass, if applicable (this would be noted as an add on in their reservation)
These aren’t birthday parties, so they’re a little looser—but you still want to guide the experience like a pro.
“Hey everyone! Welcome—we’re so glad you’re here. You can start by choosing a piece from the main floor and making your way to the party room when you're ready. Once you’re seated, I’ll walk you through paints and supplies.”
As folks trickle in, be visible and friendly—offer to help them choose a piece if they’re unsure. Some groups arrive together, others stagger, so don’t stress about starting “on time.”
Once most of the group has arrived and seated:
“Alright y’all, I’m going to walk you through how the paint works so you can get started!”
“Pottery paint starts soft and chalky but turns shiny and vibrant when fired. The samples up here show what colors look like after firing. You've got a mini paint bar of our most popular colors back here but you're welcome to the full selection on the other side of this wall.”
“You’ll want to paint 3 full coats for each color to come out bright and solid, but you can play around with coverage for varying effects.”
“We’ve got water bowls and sponges on the table—rinse between colors and blot your brush on the sponge to keep it pointy and clean.”
“There are more tools in our design center - stamps, lace, stencils, silkscreens - let me know if I can help you find or learn to use something”
Demonstrate how to rinse and reset a brush if needed, then tell them:
“If you need anything at all, I’ll be floating around the studio. Come find me or give me a wave!”
As painters finish, offer guests a permanent underglaze pencil to write their name + year on the bottom of the piece if desired.
Help organize finished pieces to avoid mix-ups
PYP parties can be tricky on the payment side.
IF PAYING SEPERATELY we ring up individual tickets then staple them together to indicate we want to "package their pieces together" after firing by wrapping each "order" in tissue paper, placing in its own bag, then placing all of the smaller bags into a larger white, labeled, party bag.
IF PAYING TOGETHER we ring it all into one very long ticket then package together by wrapping each piece in tissue paper and placing in a white, labeled, party bag (no individual bags).
Let the group know pieces will be ready 1 week later
Ask if they’d like to receive a pickup text.
Thank them for coming and help gather leftovers or personal items
Follow our standard kiln processes for drying, glazing, and firing.
You nailed it. Another smooth group event done!
We allow guests to add-on an upgrade of either a custom themed party plate or bachelorette themed stemless wineglass at booking. The process is the same as the kids parties - let guests sign with water-based marker, ask host for 3 colors for the scheme, then we go over the names in writer bottle and use the colors to paint it in.
